As the current Chief Deputy Treasurer & Public Trustee for Ouray County, I am the ONLY candidate ready to do the job from Day One!
Since January 2010 I have applied my knowledge of spreadsheets & forensic accounting in the treasurers’ office. I translated the ledgers and created an accurate and efficient system that resulted in time and money saved for Ouray County taxpayers. Now we are consistently ahead of deadlines and have evolved to where I am accurately predicting the clerks monthly revenues. My accounting methods are recognized yearly during the review of the county audit which is conducted by an independent auditor. However the treasurer’s office entails more than balancing checking accounts as the State of Colorado statutes dictates our role in county government, finances and deadlines.
In addition to meeting a tight budget I have identified several areas where I will be able to safely invest and grow the investments for Ouray County. I started in the treasurers’ office during the height of foreclosures and economic recession. Because of the efficiencies I implemented we still met our goals despite budget cutbacks, a reduced work week and reduced hours. We have all heard that “A penny saved is a penny earned” but in my experience that penny is best invested to shore up against the unforeseeable future.
When the current treasurer Jeannine Casolari retires I will be the only person with the training and skills required to continue the job. I am the only one with the experience and skills to hit the ground running in January of 2019.
